Installing and terminating structured cabling systems: This includes copper and fiber optic cabling, as well as patch panels, keystone jacks, and other necessary components.
Testing and troubleshooting cabling systems: Must be able to use specialized tools to test and certify cables to ensure that they meet industry standards. Must also be able to troubleshoot and fix any issues that arise.
Configuring network devices: Structured cabling technicians must have a basic understanding of networking concepts and be able to configure routers, switches, and other network devices as needed.
Working with customers: Must have strong communication skills and be able to work with customers to determine their needs and provide solutions that meet their requirements.
Documenting work: It is importan to maintain accurate records of all work performed, including cable runs, labeling, and testing results.
Following safety guidelines: Must follow all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure their own safety as well as the safety of others.
